Interested? Come out and visit us to get an idea of what we do!
Squadron 811 meets every Wednesday evening, from 7pm to 9pm and anyone is welcome to attend! Interested individuals are asked to come at least twice before making the final decision to join the program.
How old do I have to be to join?
To join as a cadet member, you must be between 12-18 years of age.
Individuals over the age of 18 may join as a senior member.
How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee is $31.00 for cadets. Senior members pay $52.00 annually. Cadets are provided with a uniform at no cost and every member will receive a new member kit with important materials and regulations. We do our best to provide uniform materials at no cost to our members, but personalized uniform items must be purchased.
Is there any military commitment?
While many cadets decide to join the military, Civil Air Patrol is completely volunteer and you are not obliged to join any branch of the service.
If I do decide to join the military, how does Civil Air Patrol help me?
Cadets who earn the Billy Mitchell award, or the grade of Second Lieutenant, enter the military at the initial grade of E-3 rather than E-1. Please note that not all branches of the service recognize this achievement...talking to a recruiter is highly suggested.
Can I learn how to fly?
You will have the opportunity to fly in a CAP aircraft and possibly a military aircraft. CAP doesn't teach you how to fly, but you can compete for scholarships that will help pay for your pilot's license.
